The trendy epicurean district
If you don't know Bordeaux, you're probably wondering: what are the Chartrons? It's actually a trendy district of Bordeaux.
It is located right next to the famous Place des Quinconces and it borders the docks of the beautiful city. At Les Chartrons, as the Bordeaux people say, you will find bistros, restaurants, bars, but also art galleries, wine cellars... Les Chartrons is like a village in a city, where you like to eat and drink well. It is the epicurean district.
To enjoy the district, do like me : walk around, smell the good scents of the homemade cuisine, admire the works of the artists exhibited in the art galleries and enjoy a glass of Bordeaux wine surrounded by beautiful Haussmannian buildings...
The organic “bobo” atmosphere of Les Chartrons
The neighbourhood, often described as "bobo", is also known to have become a local and organic consumer's paradise. Indeed, you can find one of the largest organic markets of France every Thursday on the famous docks located on the Chartrons side. On Thursday mornings, you will find organic vegetables, meat, cheese and fish.
And that is not all! In the area, many restaurants and food shops offer local and organic products such as the grocery store Origines Tea & Coffee created by inhabitants of Bordeaux which offers organic teas, coffees and fine food. Or the bakery La P'tite Boulangerie Notre Dame located in the heart of the Chartrons where you can find organic gluten-free breads made right in front of your eyes.
